History of Ross and Highland Counties (p. 337) has "John Fernow and family settled in the township [Buckskin] three years later [1818]". Clark (2005) (p. 78) acknowledges the "confusion" over when John Ferneau moved to Ohio and concludes that he arrived about 1818. He was of Ross County, Ohio, when he purchased land in there 31 Aug 1816 (Ross County, Ohio. Deeds, v. 13, p. 455-456 [FSL DGS 8330720, images 256-257 of 390]). Of note is the fact that John's sons Philip and John were both of Ross County when the former sold land in that county to the latter on 2 Feb 1815 (Ross County, Ohio. Deeds, v. 12, p. 318-319 [FSL DGS 8193280, image 490 of 591]). All of the family except Daniel moved to Ohio.
