Avey Family Burial Plot (Pulaski Cemetery)

The Avey family burial plot is located in Pulaski Cemetery (original cemetery, range F, lot 2) immediately south of the Whetstone family plot. According to [Record Book of Pulaski Cemetery, Augusta Township, Hancock County, Illinois] the plot contains James Avey (d. 1873), his wife Mary (Brunton) Avey (d. 1850), their son Joseph (d. 1844), and Mary's father Thomas Brunton (d. 1871). Thomas is also the father of Lucinda (Brunton) Whetstone buried in the adjacent plot. I was unable to locate a grave marker for Thomas Brunton on 24 Jul 2026, however, photos on Find a Grave show his stone buried just below the surface on the west edge of the plot.
